Big Goals

I’m training for a 50-mile ultra and fundraising for research very near and dear to my heart.

When it comes to running, I prefer to keep goals to myself out of old superstitions I haven’t kicked yet. But I know I can’t accomplish these goals, physical or monetary, without the support of you — my friends, family, and loved ones.

It is a gift to be able to do this.

It is a privilege to choose this hard.

I’m excited.

I’m nervous.

I know it’s going to be hard.

I’m eager to learn.

I’m ready to feel all of it — the highs, the lows, the hurt.

I’m laughing because I know my Mom is watching down on me, and I can hear her asking me “Are you sure you’re up for this?”

Anything for you, Mom.

When my legs get tired, I’ll run with my heart.
